Hawfinch
(Coccothraustes coccothraustes)

 

The Hawfinch  is a fairly widespread resident across much of Europe. It is a large finch with a very powerful beak, being able to crack open cherry stones. It can be found in mature deciduous woodland but can be very difficult see due to its wary and secretive nature.
